A glittering career sometimes hides the most piteous stories underneath. Lolo Jones, winner of USA and World the hurdle championships, achieved this title after a long period of dedication and perseverance. Jones was the sole member of a family with five children as well as grew up in a very poor environment. Her mother and she lived in the basement of a church, and was constantly moving around. In addition, she was on the team who was second in the 100-meter relay. In 2003 and 2004, Jones took home the indoor hurdles competition at the NCAA Championship. Jones started her track career in the year 2005, when she finished her university studies. In the same year, she won in the Torino Memorial Event, while in 2026, she won the Ostrava Track race and Heusden.

Lesley Brandt moved along with her entire family in Auckland New Zealand in 1999.
